Difference between 2.5D and 3D
・What is 2.5D glass film?

Image: oversinfo
2.5D glass film is a fully clear glass film with 2.5D rounded edge processing on the edges of the glass film, making the edges smoother.
・What is 3D glass film?

Image: oversinfo
3D glass film is a glass film that expands the area of the edges using soft materials such as silicone, covering the entire surface area.
・Difference between 2.5D and 3D
The differences between 2.5D and 3D are in three areas: the appearance of the glass film, the protective area, and the rounded edges.
Here's an example of a glass film for the same model:
The 3D glass film has a black border, while the 2.5D glass film has a clear appearance without a black border.
In addition, in terms of the area protected by the smartphone, 3D glass film covers a larger area of the device than 2.5D glass film.
Comparing the rounded edge processing, the edges of 2.5D glass film are made of hard glass, while 3D glass film has rounded edges and the edges are covered with materials such as silicone, making the edges elastic.
What is round edge processing?

Image: NIMASO
Round edge processing is the process of polishing the edges of the glass to make them round. Glass films that are not round edge processed are called 2D glass, and the corners remain at right angles, making them rough to the touch and not smooth. The disadvantage is that the edges are easily scratched.
On the other hand, films with rounded edges are called "2.5D glass films." "3D glass films" are glass films that have 2.5D rounded edges and protect the edges of the glass with soft materials such as silicone, protecting the edges of the LCD screen.
NIMASO glass film has rounded edges to improve the feel and impact resistance. We provide our customers with a smoother and more durable glass film.
2.5D or 3D? Which is best for me?
▼2.5D glass film
·merit
① It is a fully transparent type with no black borders, so it looks simple and does not interfere with the design no matter what case you combine it with.
② It does not interfere with the case. The area of the 2.5D glass is smaller than the LCD screen of a smartphone, so it is compatible with any case.
③The 2.5D round edge processing means that the entire edge is beveled, so there is no rough feeling when you touch the edge with your hand.
Disadvantages
① Dust easily gets into the edges. There is often a gap between the case and the film, so you may be concerned about dust and dirt in the gap.
②There is a moderate amount of space around the edge of the smartphone, so if you give it a shock or drop it, the edge is likely to break. We recommend using a case if possible.

▼3D glass film
·merit
① It protects the edges of the LCD screen, preventing damage from drops and impacts.
②The 3D glass protects the edges of the LCD screen, making it less likely for dust to accumulate on the edges, keeping it cleaner for longer.
3) Air bubbles are less likely to form in gaps.
4. The 3D glass film with black border effectively reduces light reflection from the display, giving you the feeling that you are not even wearing the film.
5. The black border makes it blend in with the device. The rounded edges and silicone make it smooth to the touch and comfortable to use.
Disadvantages
①There is a possibility that it may interfere with some cases.
② If the sticker is not pasted in the correct position, a black border may appear on the screen.

▼Which one is best for me?
2.5D Glass Film
Keyboard: Simple clear design, does not interfere with the case
Recommended for those who want to try out different smartphone cases and are looking for a glass film that doesn't interfere with the case.
Recommended for those who like shiny edges
2.5D glass film has the entire edge cut off at an angle, so the feel and durability of the edges are far better than 2D glass. The clear version without black edges is recommended for those who want to protect from impacts and those who want simple clarity.
3D Glass Film
Keyboard: No cracks on the corners, shockproof to the edge, solid feel, dust-proof edges
・Recommended for those who often use their smartphones outside, play games, or exercise
・Recommended for those who want to use the glass film for a long time
・Recommended for those who are concerned about dust on the edges
The 3D glass film has improved edge durability, so it protects your smartphone from external impacts and scratches. In addition, the black edge makes it difficult for dust to accumulate on the edge, so you can use it hygienically.
▼ NIMASO Trivia ▼

The ease of application is roughly the same for both 2.5D and 3D glass films. However, 3D glass films are said to produce fewer air bubbles when applied.
In the case of 2.5D glass film, even the slightest deviation in the placement of the film can cause the edges of the film to not adhere properly to the LCD screen, resulting in air bubbles forming. On the other hand, in the case of 3D glass film, even if the placement is off, the black border can make it difficult to see air bubbles that have accumulated on the edges.
If you apply it straight, you should not have any air bubbles with either film! If you are not good at applying , we recommend the glass film with a guide frame!
If you have a guide frame, it will be less likely to slip when you apply it, and you will be able to apply it straight easily! If you want to absolutely prevent air bubbles, choose a glass film with a guide frame !
