The difference between 2.5D and 3D
・What is 2.5D glass film?

Image: oversinfo
2.5D glass film is a fully clear glass film with 2.5D rounded edge processing on the edges, making the edges smoother.
・What is 3D glass film?

Image: oversinfo
3D glass film is a glass film that expands the area of the edges using soft materials such as silicone, covering the entire screen.
・Difference between 2.5D and 3D
The differences between 2.5D and 3D are the appearance of the glass film, the protective area, and the rounded edge processing.
Here's an example of a glass film for the same model:
The 3D glass film has a black border, while the 2.5D glass film has a clear border without a black border.
Also, in terms of the area of protection provided to the smartphone, 3D glass film covers a larger area of the device than 2.5D glass film.
Comparing the rounded edges, 2.5D glass screen protectors have hard glass edges, while 3D glass screen protectors have rounded edges and are covered with silicone or other materials, making the edges more flexible.
What is round edge processing?

Image: NIMASO
Rounded edge processing is the process of polishing the edges of the glass to make them round. Glass films without rounded edge processing are called 2D glass, and the corners remain at right angles, making them rough and not smooth to the touch. One disadvantage is that the edges are easily scratched.
On the other hand, films with rounded edges are called "2.5D glass films." "3D glass films" are glass films that have 2.5D rounded edges and protect the edges of the glass with soft materials such as silicone, protecting the edges of the LCD screen.
NIMASO glass films feature rounded edges to improve the feel and impact resistance, providing customers with a smoother and more durable glass film.
2.5D or 3D? Which is best for me?
▼2.5D glass film
·merit
1. It is a completely transparent type with no black borders, so it will not interfere with the simple design and can be combined with any case.
② It does not interfere with the case. The 2.5D glass surface area is smaller than the smartphone's LCD screen, so it is compatible with any case.
③The 2.5D rounded edge processing makes the entire edge beveled, so there is no rough feeling when you touch the edge with your hand.
Disadvantages
① Dust easily gets in around the edges. There is often a gap between the case and the film, so you may be concerned about dust and dirt getting in the gap.
②There is a moderate amount of space around the edge of the smartphone, so if you hit it or drop it, the edge is likely to crack. We recommend using a case if possible.
We recommend NIMASO 2.5D glass film

Wide variety to satisfy customers
▼3D glass film
·merit
① It protects the edges of the LCD screen, preventing damage from drops and impacts.
②The 3D glass protects the edges of the LCD screen, preventing dust from accumulating on the edges and keeping the screen clean for longer.
3) Air bubbles are less likely to form in gaps.
4. The 3D glass film with black border effectively reduces light reflection from the display, making it feel like you're not even wearing a film.
5. The black border creates a sense of unity with the device. The rounded edges and silicone finish make the case feel smooth all the way to the edge, making it comfortable to use.
Disadvantages
①It may interfere with some cases.
② If the sticker is not pasted in the right position, a black border may appear on the screen.

The 3D glass film has improved edge durability, protecting your smartphone from external impacts and scratches. In addition, the black border prevents dust from accumulating on the edges, making it easy to keep clean.
▼ NIMASO trivia ▼

The ease of application is roughly the same for both 2.5D and 3D glass films. However, 3D glass films are said to produce fewer air bubbles during application.
With 2.5D glass film, even slight misalignment can cause the edges of the film to not adhere properly to the LCD screen, resulting in air bubbles forming. On the other hand, with 3D glass film, even if the film is misaligned, the black border can make it difficult to see any air bubbles that may have accumulated around the edges.
If you apply it straight, you shouldn't have any air bubbles, regardless of which film you use! If you're not good at applying it , we recommend a glass film with a guide frame!
A guide frame will reduce the chance of misalignment during application, making it easier to apply straight! If you want to absolutely prevent air bubbles, choose a glass film with a guide frame !
